Cleanings, tune-ups and repairs for domestic sewing machines and sergers

All Sewing Machines need a little lovin' from time to time. Just like your vehicle, you need to take care of your machine, so your machine will take care of you! It's a good idea to have your machine serviced by a professional on an annual basis to ensure a long life for your machine. The older your machine, the more important taking care of it becomes.

How it works

Schedule a time to drop off your machine at one of the several locations around town. I will meet you in person to diagnose your machine and provide a recommendation if additional servicing is needed. A non-refundable diagnostic fee is required when making the appointment. If you want to proceed with any additional service I will provide you with an estimate and the diagnostic fee will be deducted from the total charge for servicing your machine.

To manage the volume of machines to be serviced and provide a reliable turn-time - in most cases 7-10 days - a limited number of slots are available each week to schedule a diagnostic and drop off machines for service.

Types of Machines Serviced
Ronkita services just about any make/model of domestic sewing machine and serger - vintage and new.

Machines in Desks / Industrial Machines
If your machine is in a desk and you can't remove it to bring it in for the diagnostic, or it's an industrial machine, these can't be serviced using the processes outlined below. Don't schedule a diagnostic appointment, and instead contact me with questions or the issue you're experiencing, and I may be able to refer you to a specialist or make other arrangements.

Digital Machines
These machines can still be serviced to tune up, clean or replace mechanical parts as needed, but if the issue you're experiencing is related to the digital or electrical components, then you will need to have your machine serviced by the manufacturer or a local dealer.

Multiple Machines
If you have more than one machine you want serviced on the same day, please schedule a diagnostic appointment for each machine separately. If adjacent appointments aren't available simply schedule the additional machines for any of the available appointment slots that same day, then bring all machines you've scheduled for a diagnostic at any one of your scheduled appointments.

Quick Fix Tips

If your machine is giving you trouble, try these quick fix tips when stuck:

  • Change out your needle.
  • Make sure your needle is inserted in the correct direction and pushed up as far as needed. Always refer to your user manual for directions.
  • Use good quality sewing thread. Old, deteriorated or poor quality thread can cause all kinds of issues. If it's on a wooden spool, it should be used as decoration only.
