Experience sewing with fun, easy-to-make projects

Sewing Workshops

No sewing machine, materials, or experience required - just show up and leave with something cool!

If you're curious about sewing or just want to have a good time making something for yourself, this is the class for you. In this beginner-friendly workshop you'll get hands-on experience with a sewing machine and learn to sew a project of your choice.

At the start of the workshop, you'll select one of these projects to make and take home with you:

Small Tote Bag

Carry your essentials in a custom tote bag.

Drink Cozy

Keep your favorite canned drink cool with custom cozies.

Clutch Handbag

Personalize your wardrobe with a sleek and stylish custom clutch.

Drink Coasters

Protect your furniture and personalize your home decor with custom drink coasters.

These projects provide an intro to the basics of sewing, and you can personalize them for yourself or to give as gifts. Take the workshop again to make any of the other projects, or come back and make more of the same one.

A variety of fabric will be provided for you to choose from to make the project. If you want to use your own fabric, you'll need to bring 1/2 yard (18" x 45") of cotton fabric. Contact me with any questions or if you want tips on where to get unique fabric. A sewing machine will be provided, or you can bring your own.

After taking a workshop, if you like what sewing offers and you're ready to learn more, dive in with the Beginner Basics class or the comprehensive Intro to Sewing Course.

About the Instructor

Vanessa has a long history of teaching, and was an instructor at the Stitch Lab where she taught intro and specialty sewing classes, gave private lessons, hosted parties, and ran summer camps. In addition to sewing, she has also taught art, English and grammar to children as young as two all the way through high school-aged kids. Her teaching experience extends overseas as well when Vanessa was in the Peace Corps and she taught grades 1-12, and ran clubs and summer camps. Vanessa has taught adults and kids of all ages, and especially likes seeing how everyone applies their newfound sewing skills to express themselves.

Vanessa is also a machine service technician and likes to share helpful tips with her students on the operation and maintenance of their machines.
