This is a technique that I use when showing my sewing students how to tie a tailor's knot. It's kind of silly but helps to visualize what's happening and makes it easy to remember when you're doing it on your own. The tailor's knot is commonly used to repair holes in clothing, put on a button, add embellishments to a garment and many other applications. It's fairly simple, durable and won't easily pull through fabric. In this video, you'll learn about the necessary supplies and the steps to tie a tailor's knot.

What You'll Need

  • Thread
  • Hand sewing needle
  • Needle threader (optional)
  • Scissors or snips
