While teaching and servicing machines, I get to try out a LOT of different machines, and am frequently asked for recommendations. The recommendations below are a few of my favorite machines based on my experience with how well they function, reliability, features or ease of maintaining. Please remember to test drive any machine, research, and compare prices before you buy to make sure it's the right machine for what you need.

If you're looking for a new machine because yours is broken or not performing as well as it used to, we offer diagnostic and full-service repairs for most makes and models of sewing machines and sergers. I also refurbish and sell machines when a good one comes along.

Speed control can be beneficial for beginners who haven't yet mastered controlling the speed with the foot pedal, or when you're working on projects that require a consistent, slower speed.

Mechanical Sewing Machines

This second set of beginner and intermedite sewing machines is all mechanical for when you don't need the features of digital machines and can sometimes be found at a lower price.
