I’ve walked in the Love-A-Bull Texas Sized Pittie Pride parade for the past few years, but this year I participated as a sponsor and vendor to sell my wares and also showcase the diverse range of products that can be created with a custom theme. Please check out and bid on items offered at the Austin Dog Rescue online auction that go to support this wonderful rescue organization. Many great items are available including doggie outfits created during the Stitch Lab DIY Fashion Semester Intensive, designed and patterned by Ronkita, with fabric donated by Stitch Lab.
Hey everyone! I just wanted to share a very cool mention Ronkita received in the Austin Chronicle.
Amy Gentry with the Chronicle was there to take photos and get all the juicy details of the event.
I love how she reiterates how important is to know where your items come from and the significance of shopping locally. In addition, she references the importance of celebrating our own individuality, which is why I started sewing.
Stitch Lab of Austin recently added a new class called the DIY Fashion Semester Intensive. This class is designed to teach students of all levels the details of essential garment construction and flat pattern making in addition to a lot more.
In order to provide a diverse range of options and help find exactly what you’re looking for on your custom projects, over the weekend I visited shops in the Dallas area to explore the resources available there. Continue reading “Exploring Fabric Resources in Dallas”
Ronkita is proud to have participated in and help sponsor the first Dr. Seuss Birthday Party and Canine Carnival that took place at the Liberty Hill Public Library. It was a fun afternoon meeting many great rescue organizations from the area and Thomasin had a blast interacting with all of the other animals (and showing off his new vest!). When looking for a new pet companion, please check out and support the rescue organizations in your area.
In support of Austin Pets Alive I created custom dog beds that will be auctioned off at their No-Kill Anniversary Party, taking place February 23. Check out these and other dog beds that I have made. Continue reading “Austin’s No-Kill Anniversary Party 2014 Donation”
Chris of Haunted ATX was in a jam. His last hearse, that he uses for tours of Austin, was out of service and his new one sat unfinished. The interior had been framed out to accommodate passengers, but he wasn’t able to find someone to add cushions as quickly as he needed. Every day that passed meant Haunted ATX had to turn customers away. Continue reading “Custom Hearse Upholstery”
This past April I was asked to participate in the Wells Branch Pioneer Festival. This provided me the opportunity to demonstrate several different embroidery techniques to a number of children of all ages. Continue reading “2012 Wells Branch Pioneer Festival”
