August Update

The summer, and hopefully the dry weather, are coming to end, but the sewing continues. Check out everything coming up in August, plus recent news and projects.

Learn to Sew

My goal is to make sewing lessons available to as many people as possible, and I’ve updated the Ronkita Design site with the latest sewing programs and options.

I teach a few scheduled classes each month, but my specialty is private lessons. These are scheduled at a time and location that work best for you – in your home, school, my home studio, or other shops. There’s something for everyone based on your skill level and what you want to learn.  Learn more about the different sewing programs, or check them out below:

  • Private Classes – Any Ronkita class, when and where you want.
  • Intro to Sewing Course – An in-depth series for beginners to cover essential sewing techniques and using a sewing machine.
  • Private Lessons – Focus exclusively on what you want to learn.
  • After-School Programs & Camps – During the school year, or over summer or holiday breaks, sewing programs are available for individuals, schools, and organizations.

After-School Programs & Camps

Personalized sewing programs to provide in-depth instruction for all experience levels.

Programs are setup for children, or adults, to learn sewing techniques as they design and create different projects. The programs engage students in a fun and constructive manner, and build upon skills related to problem solving, math, and engineering, while also demonstrating new ways to express their creativity. The knowledge gained will enable students to explore an endless array of possibilities to directly apply their new sewing skills. Learn More

Sewing Classes

Below are a few of my upcoming, scheduled sewing classes at locations around Austin.

Knit Pencil Skirt

An intro to sewing with knits using a classic design that’s simple to make.

In this class you will receive a pattern all your own, and once we do a quick fitting, minor pattern adjustments can be made so you can make a great fitted pattern over and over again! Learn More

Fun & Easy Sewing Workshop

ALL MATERIALS and MACHINES ARE PROVIDED – you just show up and leave with something cool!

Sign up for the workshop, and at the beginning of the class you’ll select one of these items to make:

  • Clutch Handbag
  • Drink Cozy
  • Tote Bag
  • Drink Coasters

These quick-project workshops have been very popular and often sell out. The workshop is great for anyone who doesn’t know how to sew and wants to get a taste for sewing with fun, easy-to-make projects. Learn More
